We would like to thank the community for your support during our May blood drive. We are happy to report that we registered 45 donors, collected 42 pints of blood and had 8 first time donors join our blood program!
Because 1 pint of blood can save 3 lives, your donations will help the lives of 126 patients in our community hospitals..
If you didn't have the opportunity to donate this time we will be holding another blood drive in September so check our public calendar for exact times. |
Granite Falls Fire Department, Snohomish Fire District 17
Celebrating 100 Years of Service and Dedication to the Community.
 In April of 1907 a group of enterprising pioneers set in motion the foundation for the Granite Falls Fire Department by establishing the bylaws for a volunteer fire department consisting of a single company and 34 members. Without apparatus or equipment the fledgling organization appealed to the city council for supplies and an operating budget. During those early years the fire department along with the rest of the City of Granite Falls saw fluctuations in population and demand for service in direct relationship to the economy of the day, which was based on logging and mining.
For the next 50 years the fire department was operated under the direction of the city government. In 1958 another group of civic leaders formed Snohomish County Fire Protection District 17 to provide protection to the farms and mills surrounding the city. [more]

Smoke Detectors Save Lives. The majority of fatal home fires happen at night, when people are asleep. Contrary to popular belief, the smell of smoke may not wake a sleeping person. The poisonous gases and smoke produced by a fire can numb the senses and put you into a deeper sleep.
 Inexpensive household smoke detectors sound an alarm, alerting you to a fire. By giving you time to escape, smoke detectors cut your risk of dying in a home fire nearly in half. Smoke detectors save so many lives most states have laws requiring them in private homes. [more]

Two Stations to Serve You
 Granite Falls Fire Head Quarters Station 87 is located in the center of town at 116 S Granite Avenue. This station is home to over 40 full- and part-time firefighters serving over 8,000 residents within the district. The Granite Avenue station provides facilities for two structural engines, two ambulances, one rescue truck, and a tender.

 Granite Falls Fire Burn Road Satellite Station 86 is the newest facility, built in 2000 to better service the needs of residents on the west side of District 17 . This station is manned by a crew of 10 part-time firefighters and is home to one engine, an EMS Unit, and an ambulance. Backup to this station is provided by the Granite Avenue Station, Lake Stevens Fire District, and Getchell.
